Park Sae-whan / Assignment 7 / Tue34

In the 21st century where no area of countries is immune from the pervasive influence of fast food industries, hamburgers have become part of human beings' culture across the globe. Yet, traditional images that the cheap and unhealthy junk food possesses have been an easy target to prey on for those who lead anti-fast food boycotts. The growth of fast food chains around the world, however, can rightly be supported due to following reasons.

As the word, "fast" implicates, one of the most distinctive characteristics of fast food is its convenience. In this chasing modern life style, it would be too much of luxury for someone to spend too much time on meals. Here, fast food can offer a convenient option for busy businessman or students. Once they order in a fast food restaurant, a meal will be served in the blink of an eye. Although eating fast food too often is bad for health, it is worth considering once or twice a week to put hamburgers in a lunch menu in a busy day.

The wide-spreading fast food chains, especially in the third countries, can also contribute greatly to solving world poverty. Individuals living in absolute poverty earn less than $2 a day, and find it extremely difficult to have a full, satisfactory meal every day. Fast food, once again, play an important role since it provides cheap and nice food which costs less than $2 depending on menu for the poor.

Lastly, with the growth of fast food chains, it has become easier for people to find it literally everywhere. It is sometimes a struggling moment to decide what to eat for lunch. Soon, people realize they can go visit fast food restaurants regardless of where they are. Fast food chains will always be near them and ready to serve for those who want to eat something cheap and fast.

Amid the growing sense of wellness, many people are trying to stay away from the fast food. However, that does not necessarily mean that the growth of fast food chains should be barred, but rather it should be supported because fast food still possesses many benefits in the busy modern society like its convenience, cheap cost, and close locations.
