How long do you rest per week? In these days, people are busy working and doing something excessively. Even though timesaving devices emerge more and more, people work harder and longer. They are under the pressure of getting behind of others. However, this tendency causes negative effects and we need leisure time more than now for efficiency, happiness, and our health.

First, some say hardworking leads to efficiency of works. However, it’s not true. Many companies are pushing forward to have more breaks in these days. It’s because they realized that workers without enough rest can just be exhausted and lose concentration. Thus, it leads to inefficiency which is the reversed effect what they’ve expected. You’ve already experienced it so many times. Just think of when you were a student and studying for mid-term. It would feel much better to take a sleep for even few minutes than to study without rest. Concentration definitely needs energy and if there is no source, the quality of works will get low.

Next, we can get happiness from relaxation. There are some who love to work but it’s only few. Most people work because they don’t want to get behind of others and fall down of the social system. We are living in the times of competition. A society makes us study hard, work better, and get more than others. It seems like we don’t have any time to stop and turn around where we are. However, when you give yourself a moment for looking back what you’ve done and looking forward to what will come, you would feel comfortable. Through that time, you can be reminded of what you wanted and what you are doing. Those reflections will lead your life and get you confidence of going forward.

Lastly, we can be healthier through break. Contemporary people get stressful from work and suffer a lot of diseases. Even when they go to hospital, what they heard is there’s no cure for it and just take a rest. Our body systems need enough sleep and rest to do something. Without them, our body conditions will get down and at last, lose power. It’s too hard to accomplish something in those situations. Refreshing would feel like wasteful for a first time. However, it would cure your exhausted body and get you a new power in turn.

To sum up, people need more rest for efficiency and living happy and healthy life. Don’t be afraid of thinking you are falling down in the competition system. Give yourself your own time to refresh and recharge. It would give you better results.
