Minyoung Kang/classification/TUE 11

Through the course of our lives, we are exposed to numerous situations, duties, and roles that help us develop certain skills. How beneficial or trivial these skills may be, all of these attributes build us to be better suited for our future occupations. I, as well, was able to acquire various abilities for my future dream to be a lawyer. Becoming a lawyer is not an easy process as it is difficult to fulfill all the requirements and to qualify before fully being acknowledged as a lawyer. However, I have three abilities that I was able to develop that could facilitate this process.

First of all, I was able to develop leadership from series of club activities. Many may not think that lawyers work in teams, as most people perceive lawyer as more of an individual work. In real, however, lawyers work in law firms where they usually form a group and divide the work between the teammates. This can greatly simplify and lessen the amount of the workloads the lawyers have to handle in one lawsuit. This is why having a great leadership can be an essential attribute that can keep the group moving smoothly. By keeping in mind the experiences I had as a club leader in high school, I am willing to share the work equally between coworkers, as well as listen to any difficulties or suggestions that can arise while working.

Secondly, I learned how to think logically by taking part in diverse English debate activities. During high school, I was interested in the world and society issues. To study these more thoroughly, I participated in model United Nations and debate championships. What these two activities had in common was that it required students to think more logically, because the key was to persuade others with words. I practiced making arguments, giving proofs, citing examples, and rebutting numerous times, and these efforts helped me think more logically when it came to current issues. As logic is a crucial part of lawyer's work, the skill I gained during these activities will greatly help me excel in the work.

Lastly, one of the best qualities that I am proud of is endurance. I learned to endure difficulties because jogging is my favorite exercise. When jogging, we have to always control ourselves not to give up until we reach the goal that we had in mind. That is why I try not to let go or give up as much as I can whether it may be good or bad. Being able to endure for a long time can be an integral part of being a lawyer because lawyers are always faced with unlimited amount of work and research. Also, it is themselves who need to push forward to make sure that they win the case, not any other person. My endurance will always remind me that giving up is not the answer in times of hardships when working as a lawyer.

In brief, the abilities that I was able to develop will step in when I study to become a lawyer or work as a lawyer. However, it does not mean that the skills I have are enough for me to become a lawyer. There are still many other attributes like background knowledge, time management, and even diligence that lawyers must possess. Though it might take long, I will make sure that the abilities needed to become a lawyer will be equal to the ones that I have.

    Nothing was unclear.

May be it would be more specific if you give the readers some details about the gaining leadership when doing club activities.

  2. To Minyoung Kang From Hannah Bae

    1. What I like about this piece of writing is you explained how did you get those abilities from your daily life .

    2. Your main point seems to be you learned the essential skills for lawyer-leadership, thinking logically, don't giving up- through experiences.

    3. These particular words or lines struck me as powerful:
How beneficial or trivial these skills may be, all of these attributes build us to be better suited for our future occupations.

I could feel how you would develop this essay.

    4. Some things aren’t clear to me. These lines or parts could be improved (meaning not clear, supporting points missing, order seems mixed up, writing not lively):

    None.

    5. The one change you could make that would make the biggest improvement in this piece of writing is strengthening the last paragraph. Why dond't you summarize the whole process? In the introduction, you didn't mention what the 3 skills are. Then, i think, it is better to state it clearly at the last paragraph.

Even though the hardest part of running the club was the large number of people, I soon realized that the work between these people can create a powerful synergy effect. By keeping in mind the experiences I had as a club leader in high school, I am willing to share the work equally between coworkers, as well as listen to any difficulties or suggestions that can arise while working.
