201104213 Eun Hye Jang. As there is a saying, "The foundation of every state is the education of its youth", good education is a prerequisite for the promising future of a nation. Teachers are a key element in education. If teachers do not have proper abilities, the promising future of a nation becomes unsecure. Though teachers are very important, most of the people have never thought about good teachers. Then, what determines the quality of good teachers? The most important attribute is a sense of duty. Teaching should not be seen as a means of living. On the contrary, it is a primary job a nation can have to create and form a future society through the education of youth. The commitment to and faith in such education should be something to last for one's life time. Sometimes like any other jobs teachers may get less confident and demotivated in the way of their teaching. Whenever such challenge takes place, they should be able to remain dedicated to their duty interacting with their colleagues who are still in devotion to education. The second important attribute is the understanding of students. Teachers should recognize the unique world narrowed to their students. It is because it is a resource they can use to predict properly the direction they will lead their students to. Such understanding present in the teachers facilitates the positive aspects of what each student has. It brings about the most effects through an optimal interaction between teachers and students. The third important attribute is the professional knowledge of teachers. When their educational knowledge remains in the superficial degree, they may not be capable of distinguishing what is critical, or necessary, from what is trivial, or optional. Without the eyes catching the probably subtle differences between necessity and insignificance, they will find themselves get lost in their teaching. Though there are a lot of teachers, I think that there are a few teachers who try to be good teachers. As teachers have such an important role in our society, a teacher should do their best to be teachers. If they try to get a sense of duty, the understanding of students, and the professional knowledge, they can conduct and give good instruction. These ways, we can ensure the bright future of our nation.

ReplyDelete1. What I like about this piece of writing is how you started your body paragraphs. Your essay looks very organized because you started your body paragraphs by saying ‘The most, the second, the third…’
2. Your main point seems to be that the qualities teachers must possess is a sense of duty, understanding students, and professional knowledge of students.
3. These particular words or lines struck me as powerful:
1) The hook: I thought your hook was a very powerful way to start your essay, and I liked how you linked it with the content of your essay.
2) should not be seen as a means of living: This emphasizes the mindset the teachers must have when teaching.
4. Some things aren’t clear to me. These lines or parts could be improved (meaning not clear, supporting points missing, order seems mixed up, writing not lively):
The part about ‘Teachers should recognize the unique world~’ is not very clear. It would be better if you elaborated more about this part,
5. The one change you could make that would make the biggest improvement in this piece is to make your ideas clear. It is true that you use formal language and diverse vocabularies, but some parts still remain unclear. Some sentence structures are difficult to understand as well.

ReplyDelete1. What I like about this piece of writing is how you started your introduction. I mean, your hook looks interesting. I think I will start like yours next time.
2. Your main point seems to be that to be a good teacher, people need to have a sense of duty, understanding students, and professional knowledge of students.
3. These particular words or lines struck me as powerful:
Though there are a lot of teachers, I think that there are a few teachers who try to be good teachers.
-> I think it is a good sentence that shows your main opinion about the current situation in educational practice. I like it.
4. Some things aren’t clear to me. These lines or parts could be improved (meaning not clear, supporting points missing, order seems mixed up, writing not lively):
I also cannot understanding the second body paragraph. There are several grammar mistakes and I think you should have used clearer verbs and structures.
5. The one change you could make that would make the biggest improvement in this piece is to : Nice starting. But I think you should take care of the structure when you write an essay. I can understand what you are trying to say but it looks unclear.

ReplyDeleteThe most important attribute is a sense of duty. Teaching should not be seen as a means of living. On the contrary, it is a primary job a state can have to create and form a rosy future society through the education of youth. The second important attribute is the understanding of students. Teachers should understand characters of their students and especially the world they belong to. It is because it is a resource they can use to predict properly the direction they will lead their students to. Such understanding in the teachers facilitates the positive aspects of what each student has. It brings about the most effects through an optimal interaction between teachers and students.
