It is true thatfamilies became a lot smaller in a modern society. My mother grew up with 4siblings, so there were seven members in a family. Moreover, they kept veryclose contact with their grandparents, uncles and cosines On the other hand,there are only four members in my family. Families became smaller because ofthe increased mobility, and it results in decreased care and comfort betweenthe family members.
Because of thedevelopment of transportation such as cars, trains and airplanes, it is easierfor people to move from places to places. Therefore a lot of young people fromthe rural area were able to leave their parents and move to the urban area,seeking new opportunities. Because of that a lot of families are living apartnowadays. People do not tend to have manybabies these days, and that also resulted in the increase of small families.There are a lot of reasons but one is the increased mobility. People movefrequently from places to places and even between nations. If the family islarge, it is more difficult for them to move around, so families tend to keepthemselves small.
Due to thesmaller families, people receive less care and comfort from the family members.People who live alone, moved apart from the rest of the family tend to feel alot of loneliness and depression because the love and comfort from the familyis too far away. Older people living in the rural area also cannot receive enoughcare and help because they live in a faraway city.
Increasedmobility of modern society resulted in the increase of small families andindividuals who live alone. Because there are a lot of small families, manypeople do not receive enough care and love that a family should provide.Therefore we need to find ways to give enough comfort and welfare to theindividuals who are lonely neglected due to the small family.
